Highland Park Asset Mapping Project & Contest #2

As you hopefully read in the July newsletter, Highland Park is working on an Asset Mapping Project this year. The project involves identifying all kinds of things in the neighbourhood & our surrounding area that make it an awesome place to live: a great location with a rich history and some pretty cool secret spots.

In July’s newsletter we ran a picture as part of a community contest for the project. We challenged both newsletter readers and attendees at our Stampede BBQ to identify the location. The image was a close-up of the public art mounted on the giant Enmax pole at 32 Ave and 1 St NE. There were several correct entries, but the winner of the Tim Horton’s gift card for July’s contest is Marlis H. Congratulations!

This month, we are posting another picture of another location in Highland Park. If you can identify it, send your answer to volunteer@hpca.ca, with the email subject line as “Asset Mapping Contest - August” and include a) the location of this month’s pictured spot (address or nearest intersection), b) your name, c) your email and/or phone number. Our Asset Mapping team will award the winner another $10 gift card to Tim Hortons.

Be on the lookout for our Asset Mapping Project team members throughout the community wearing our t-shirts that ask residents, “What’s Our Story?” on the front and say, “Talk To Me” on the back. We hope you’ll take the time to speak with these volunteers to find out more about the project and provide your input. We’ll be showcasing our online Google Map soon! Thanks to everyone so far who has provided information about historical sites, businesses, secret spots, and various public spaces in Highland Park.
