Danna Laycock
Lead Teacher

Hi My name is Danna Laycock. I hold a Bachelor of Social Work and have spent many years caring for and supporting young children and their families. I have now worked at Highland Park preschool for 5 years where I have loved helping children build confidence, friendships and a love for learning in a safe and supportive environment.

I also ran my own private day home while raising my 4 children, an experience that shaped my understanding of early childhood in a very real and meaningful way. Being both an educator and parent has taught me how important patience , kindness and consistency are during these early years.

I am passionate about creating a warm, nurturing space where children feel secure, valued and excited to learn. I believe every child is unique and deserves to be supported as they grow socially, emotionally and academically. I look forward to partnering with families and being a part of each child's early learning journey.

Delena Lens
Teacher Assistant

My name is Delena Lens I am the preschool teacher assistant with a passion for creating a safe, nurturing, and functional environment where children can learn, grow, and become independent. I believe every child deserves the opportunity to build relationships and meaningful bonds at their own pace while feeling supported, valued, and encouraged.

I have experience working as a developmental assistant, supporting children in developing important skills such as speech and language, gross motor and fine motor development. I have also helped children learn to use regulation tools both independently and through co-regulation with supportive adults. I am passionate about helping children build confidence, develop social-emotional strategies, and better understand and express what they are feeling.

I am a caring, helpful, and affectionate person who loves offering a helping hand and, when appropriate, a comforting hug. My bubbly and giggly personality helps me connect with others and bring warmth and positivity into the classroom.

Outside of working with children, I love spending time outdoors and embracing nature. I enjoy fishing with my spouse, backwoods camping, and going on exciting adventures off-roading and mudding. I am passionate about creating meaningful experiences, building connections, and helping others feel safe, supported, and encouraged
