Communications Coordinator (Volunteer)
Reports To: Executive Director / Board President
Time Commitment: ~2 to 4 hours per week (highly flexible, remote-friendly)
The Mission
Our community association has incredible stories to tell, essential grants to win, events to enjoy, volunteers to recruit and a vital hall to fill. We need a digital champion to handle our microphone. The Communications Coordinator keeps the neighborhood connected, engaged, and informed by managing our digital newsletters, website updates, and social media channels.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Newsletter Management: Compile and work with our Newsletter Editor to send out our regular community email updates (including the volunteer calls for the rink crew, events committee, and new program ideas).
Social Media Content: Schedule punchy, engaging updates on Facebook,Instagram, or Nextdoor to highlight hall rental availability, preschool registration drives, and neighborhood events.
Website Maintenance: Keep the community website fresh by updating basic information like hall booking rates, contact forms, and board meeting announcements.
Brand Advocacy: Ensure all public communications are welcoming, professional, and reflective of our voluntary association’s community-first mission.
Coordinate regular updates to signs to ensure it is up to date, reflecting current and ongoing events. This requires working with a small group of volunteers to schedule and execute the physical sign updates.
Perfect For
Students or recent grads looking to build a portfolio in marketing, PR, or communications.
Freelancers or corporate professionals who want to apply their digital skills locally.
Anyone who loves storytelling, graphic design (Canva fans welcome!), and keeping their finger on the pulse of the neighborhood.
