Once again, it’s time to start combing through your garage and purge your home and garden shed of that never-used or worn out stuff that has been collecting dust for the past decade. Save yourself a trip to the landfill by dropping items off at the Highland Park Community Hall on Saturday, September 15, 2018, from 9 A.M. – 2 P.M.
In addition to City waste and compost trucks, there will also be services provided for metals recycling, e-waste (e.g. computers, phones, microwaves, stereo equipment), and tires and car batteries. The Diabetes Clothesline will accept gently used clothing and small housewares.
The following items are not permitted at the Cleanup events:
Propane tanks
Glass (e.g. window panes, glass table tops)
Household appliances with Freon (e.g. refrigerators, freezers)
Liquids (e.g. paint, cooking oils, solvents, garden chemicals)
Railway ties
Sod and dirt but yard waste is accepted for composting
Household hazardous waste (see http://www.calgary.ca/UEP/WRS/Pages/What-goes-where/Household-Hazardous-Waste.aspx) for information on how and where to dispose of household hazardous waste)
Volunteers are needed to help direct and unload vehicles. Please contact Jeanne at secretary@hpca.ca or phone the hall at (403) 276-6969.
These popular Cleanup events are hosted by community associations with support from Calgary Community Standards and Waste & Recycling at The City of Calgary.
