Our Tuesday/Thursday Teacher –
Mrs. Gail Engelman joined Highland Park Pre-school (formerly Edgemont Pre-school) in the fall of 2014. Gail is a qualified early childhood educator with certification as a Child Care Worker. She brings over 20 years of teaching experience as a pre-school and play program teacher.
It was when she was volunteering at her children’s preschool that one of the teachers inspired her to change vocations from business to early childhood. “I love to sing and dance with the children while teaching them, and yet still be firm and gentle in my guidance strategies. Seeing a child’s excitement as they discover and learn new things, their smile when they are happy to see you, their honesty and love is what keeps me going. School should be a fun and safe place for all children where they feel respected and develop a love of learning.”
Our Monday/Wednesday/Friday Teacher – Jennifer Sick.
Mrs. Jennifer Sick was a part of the Highland Park Pre-school (formerly known as Edgemont Preschool) for 2 years, having been a part of another organization for several years. Jennifer has her B.Ed., with a minor in early childhood and special Ed. She not only enjoys, but is passionate about, early education, finding energy through martial arts, gardening, hiking and being mom to three young adults. Favorite part of being a preschool teacher? Seeing children blossom and smile as well as reading books and bringing them to life through drama and art!
Miss Rubeen Gosal is thrilled to be joining Highland Park Preschool as a Teacher’s Assistant for the 2016-2017 school year. She holds a Child Development Assistant Certificate (Level 1) and a Disability Studies Certificate from Mount Royal University. She is currently a student at the University of Calgary and she will be graduating in June 2017.
Miss Rubeen fell in love with working with children during one of her practicums at a local daycare. From that point on, she has been focused on creating a career, within this field. She loves helping and encouraging children to learn new things. Having the opportunity to learn more about each child's personality and watching them grow as individuals is one of her favorite parts about this position.
